The fourth part of these memoirs describes my path taking off in a series of fascinating directions with new Soul-expanding experiences and the start of writing this memoir. Episode 1 shares whale-whispering off Mexico and my introduction to plant music in Damunhur in Italy. The extraordinary and profound pathway to Self-knowledge which walking the Camino (‘the Way’) provides for everyone who steps out onto, it is outlined in four episodes (2, 3, 4 and 5). In my case, ‘Marni’ had set out on the path in 2012 and ‘Marilyn’ took over and completed the 770km walk across France. There were many lessons along the way as I found pianos and myself in poignant places. Ronald’s mantra rang loud and clear “ Look back not in anger, nor forward in fear… but around, in awareness” (James Thurber).
Episode 6 describes my homecoming, returning and settling back in Kalk Bay after three years. A rough encounter and a nine-week sojourn in a wheelchair compelled a slowing down in the pace of my life, provided ‘space’ and prompted the start of writing these memoirs.
My life in two hemispheres continued (as it still does) with the establishing of my retreat at Le Vagabond in Leysin, the Swiss mountain village and my loosening connection to Thonon-les-Bains in France after twenty years, leaving my faithful 1923 Bechstein for the new owners (Episode 7). The creation of the Amani Harmonic Foundation, linking peace and music, is described in Episode 8 with some of the early spontaneous creative activities we termed ‘Soirees du coeur’. Episode 9 is perhaps a ‘standalone’ short story, but is included here as a chronological step with my first and only visit to Jerusalem and Palestine in 2014.
The southern ‘pole’ of my life gained momentum with the expansion of Foundation activities in South Africa and my base shifted from Kalk Bay to Stanford, the small village in the Overberg in 2017. Episodes 10, 11 and 12 describe this transition which required my grandmother’s Bechstein going into ‘rest and restoration’ for a period of 2 years. Episode 13 describes an exhilarating adventure with Judy Satori to Ladakh taking me to heady altitudes and expanded awareness of Tibetan culture.
Finding the riverside sanctuary and consolidating my southern ‘pole’ in early 2019, prior to a return to Europe by boat, is described in Episode 14. The stars provided much needed clarity as to ‘where’ I should be based in the northern ‘pole’ which is outlined in Episode 15. A further opportunity for closure was provided with my return to Bosnia in 2019, described in Episode 16, prior to our Symposium in Leysin on the ‘Sound of Light’. The final episode in these memoirs, ‘Closure and Resurrection’ ends this chapter in the story of Love on my Soul’s journey.
