The memoir My Listening Heart is a welcome and compelling contribution to the medical humanities movement, illustrating the healing power of creativity. The narrative plaits several strong threads of a life well lived through curious and creative engagement. Evolving themes of event, music and spiritual path are rendered in Marilyn’s warm tones, accompanied by text, and her stirring original piano music expands and amplifies the experience.

Marilyn Pigott’s beautiful story of love, joy, music, service but also loss has touched me to the heart of myself. As I listen to her words, I feel my own soul more keenly. Each chapter spoken in her own voice is as musical notes in a beautiful symphony of soul. With love and appreciation Marilyn.

It has been quite an adventure accompanying Marilyn on her journey of awakening. Starting with our professional paths as we appeared in many parts of the world at the same time (Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe). It was clear we had work to do together in gender equality and the world of work. And there was more.! In her esoteric and spiritual quest.
I was privy to her search for a Bechstein grand piano in 2001 in France and later witnessed the unfolding or ‘remembering’ of her musical abilities as we uncovered her previous life as a 19th century Italian composer in the collection of musical manuscripts from the 16th century housed in the Casanatense Library in Rome.
Marilyn began to understand her ability to connect with the higher aspect of herself and allow music to come through and touch the souls of those who listen.
The loss of Ronald in an airplane crash changed both our worlds and we found ourselves even more tightly connected, weaving our paths together and creating new synchronicities for us both. Thank you for the journey, Marilyn
